A Fun Project

This was just a fun project I did for a photo forum I belonged to at one time.

Begin with a simple picture that has an object as the focal point.

Change the background.

Add a second background and a hat...

And finishing touches!  Ta da...finished!

A Prehistoric Creature

Is it a bird?  Is it a plane?  No, it is a prehistoric creature! It flew just ahead of the automobile. Was it playing with my mind?

Not, really.  Here is the original picture...right out of my camera as I was riding and enjoying the scenery in the north Georgia mountains.  There actually was an antenna in the picture.

synonyms for prehistoric:
medieval, passé, outmoded, outworn, démodé, out-of-date, out of fashion, outdated, unfashionable, moth-eaten, moribund, archaic, rusty, unknown, antiquated, fossilized, mossy, superannuated, demoded, Stone Age, prehistorical, unstylish, kaput, old, neolithic, ancient, past, Noachian, dated.

Snowy the Parakeet

I turned my Snowy parakeet into....

A Santa bird Christmas card!

Touched Up and Color Added

My Daughter's friend, Jackie, said this is the only photo she has of herself as a baby...

Jackie now has new photos.  This baby has a new look after a little work on her....

Keep on Ticking

This photo definitely has "took a licking"

But with a little help from my Microsoft program, it "keeps on ticking"...

A Different Background

This is the original picture that was taken some time in the 70's at an old family "home place" which had not been lived in for years, but the family sometimes met there and had a "get together" or just camped out for a few days.  It was a secluded place with a stream running through the many acres.  I remember it being a very serene place to be.

The picture is a bit faded out.  I completely removed the background.  It is now an interesting scrapbook page.  Here it is, the second time around!

Introduction

In this day of electronics and computer programs, it is not very difficult to learn how to "touch up" or change a photo in one way or another.  It is possible to crop or cut out a portion of the photo, add an entirely new item to the photo, fill in a spot that is washed out, change a color or tint, and re-size the whole photo or portions of it.  I cannot name all the things that can be done to a photo. Some editing programs have many built in filters and there is a long list of filters that can be added to most image editing programs. Some of them add textures or change the photo to watercolor, chalk, charcoal, or pencil. Numerous effects can be obtained.
I started playing with the free Picture It! program that came with my older computers. They were loaded with Windows 98 and other older versions such as Windows 2000 and 2002.  These image editing programs were basic and easy to understand but are not usually compatible with the newer computers.  A few years ago I purchased Microsoft's Digital Image 2006 program, which is no longer sold but I learned how to manipulate photos to a decent quality. I now have the Paint Shop and the Photo Shop programs but have not mastered either of those.  I really need to spend some time with Photo Shop, as that is the one I am most interested in learning.
In this blog, I will be displaying some of the photos I have given a second chance to become new again and in some cases, something very different.
Never throw out an old photo as it is possible to give it new life the second time around!
